A Marine, who was a student assigned to the School of Infantry-West, tragically died during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton on Thursday, according to authorities.
The unidentified Marine was participating in a night live-fire training session at the base when the incident occurred, as reported by spokesman Maj. Joshua J. Pena.

Maj. Pena noted in a statement that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing and the command is fully cooperating with the process. He added that the School of Infantry – West is providing support to the deceased Marine’s family and peers during this challenging time.
