A man from Moreno Valley has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities were called to his residence following reports that he was armed with a shotgun and causing damage to the house.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the domestic disturbance call in the 16000 block of Kensington Place on July 31 at around 9:30 a.m. The suspect, identified as Gerardo Martin, was the only person present in the house when authorities arrived. His family members were outside the house, according to the department’s news release.
After speaking with the family members, investigators determined that Martin had threatened a man with a shotgun two days prior, leading the man to believe that he was going to be shot.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau obtained a search warrant and was called in to assist. Martin was arrested without incident and was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and are looking for an additional witness. They are encouraging anyone with further information to contact Investigator McCracken at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station.
This incident underscores the imperative role law enforcement plays in maintaining public safety and the significance of community cooperation in successful crime resolution.
