Mountain Biker Threatened with Knife in Robbery Attempt at UC Berkeley’s Botanical Gardens

Authorities are investigating an attempted robbery that took place Sunday afternoon at the Botanical Gardens on UC Berkeley’s campus. According to the University of California Police Department, Berkeley (UCPD), a mountain biker on the singletrack trail, east of the Botanical Gardens, reported that a man threatened them with a small knife and attempted to steal their bike.

Fortunately, the victim was able to escape unharmed. However, the suspect remains at large. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30-35 years old, standing 5-foot-10 with a buzz cut. He was wearing black fleece hiking pants, a gray hiking shirt, and carried two backpacks at the time of the incident.
