A tragic incident occurred in Hollywood early Sunday morning when a security guard at a nightclub was savagely beaten to death by a large mob.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to the incident at the Dragonfly Hollywood nightclub on the 6500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard around 2 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene following reports of a group of 10 people assaulting a single individual.
LAPD West Bureau Homicide Division Detective Samuel Marullo stated, “The victim was working at this nightclub, and a large group – for unknown reasons – confronted that security guard, causing him to fall into the street. At which time the group advanced and kicked and stomped him to death.”
First responders attempted life-saving measures on the security guard, a male in his 30s, at the scene. Despite their efforts, the guard was tragically pronounced dead.
The nightclub was reportedly still open and filled with patrons at the time of the incident. It is not yet known whether any arrests have been made in connection with the brutal attack.
The LAPD is urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward and assist in the ongoing homicide investigation. This tragic incident emphasizes the potential dangers faced by security personnel and the urgent need for effective measures to protect them.
