Michael Orr, a 56-year-old man who was reported missing from Oakley earlier this summer, has been found dead, according to the Oakley Police Department. Orr was reported missing on July 28 and police made a public appeal about his disappearance on August 3. His body was discovered on Monday.
A vineyard worker found Orr’s body north of Main Street and west of Big Break Road. He was lying next to a fence line in proximity to a vineyard and railroad tracks.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office identified the body as Orr on Tuesday.
Orr’s family has established a GoFundMe account to raise funds for his funeral expenses, with a target of $10,000.
“Michael was a wonderful son, brother, stepdad, grandfather and friend who touched the lives of those around him,” reads the GoFundMe account. “He leaves behind his mother, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, stepdaughter, and 4 grandkids.”
This tragic outcome underlines the critical importance of active investigations for missing individuals and the urgency required in such situations.
