A 52-year-old Yorba Linda resident, Effrum Maland Burnett, has been arrested on suspicion of homicide in Orange County, officials announced on Wednesday.
On July 18, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding a man who had been stabbed on the 9000 block of Canton Avenue in an unincorporated area of Anaheim. Upon arrival, authorities found a 50-year-old man inside a nearby residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The O.C. Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau took over the investigation and subsequently arrested Burnett early Wednesday morning. During the arrest, investigators served two search warrants and discovered multiple weapons, although it remains to be seen whether these were used in the incident.
The motive behind the stabbing has yet to be disclosed, and the victim’s name is being withheld until the Orange County Coroner completes their notifications.
