An individual sleeping on a bus stop bench in Compton was killed early Thursday morning when an out-of-control SUV plowed into the bus stop. The single-vehicle crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on the 2200 Block of East Rosecrans Avenue near North Harris Avenue.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the SUV was traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue when it hit a tree, a bus stop and a fire hydrant, eventually coming to a halt a short distance down the road.
The victim, who was reportedly sleeping on the bus stop bench, was pronounced dead at the scene. While no detailed identity information was released, it is believed that the victim was homeless. As of now, no other injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made.
