Riot Breaks Out at Downey Juvenile Hall

A major disturbance occurred at the Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, resulting in the injury of staff members and the brief escape of one detainee. The riot broke out around 8 p.m. on Friday, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

During the riot, young inmates assaulted staff, and one individual managed to leave the secure perimeter of the facility. However, they were immediately apprehended by Probation Special Enforcement Operations officers, and all detainees have been accounted for.

Residents in the vicinity were instructed to stay away from the facility and to secure their homes during the commotion. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported among the staff or inmates.
