A man from San Jose has been arrested in connection with the death of his housemate, which has been ruled a homicide by the San Jose Police Department. David Gregg, 29, is currently in police custody for his alleged role in the incident.
According to police, Gregg allegedly punched his housemate multiple times in the face at their residence on the 3000 block of Florence Ave on Oct. 22, 2022. After the assault, Gregg fled the scene, and the victim refused medical attention.
Later that night, a third housemate found the victim on the floor, apparently having fallen and hit his head on the edge of his bed frame. The victim was then rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, he passed away on Oct. 28.
Gregg was arrested on Nov. 11 in San Jose by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office. He was originally booked for felony assault, but on July 27, 2023, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office declared the death a homicide.
The case is now with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine any additional charges. This incident is a stark reminder of the serious legal repercussions for violent acts and serves to highlight the importance of the justice system in maintaining public safety.
