A 36-year-old man, identified by friends as Juan Aeryan, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in Wilmington, Los Angeles, while setting off fireworks. This incident brings attention to traffic law issues, especially those related to hit-and-runs and pedestrian safety.
The police responded to the scene of the incident at 710 N. Fries Avenue near a Food 4 Less grocery store after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. Aeryan, who was setting off fireworks on the street, was struck by an SUV driven by a woman described as Hispanic.
The impact reportedly threw Aeryan several hundred feet, where he landed partially underneath another vehicle leaving the shopping center parking lot. That driver remained at the scene, while the SUV driver reportedly fled and was last spotted traveling northbound on Fries Avenue from G Street.
The incident is a stark reminder of the grave consequences of reckless driving and the importance of driver responsibility. Aeryan, a father of three who recently got engaged, had come to Wilmington to celebrate an early Fourth of July. The police are urging any witnesses of the tragic hit-and-run to come forward.
