Seeking Justice: Tragic Loss in San Bernardino
A senseless act of violence has claimed the lives of two individuals in San Bernardino. On Saturday night, an alleged armed robbery took place in a back parking lot at the National Orange Show, resulting in the deaths of two men. The San Bernardino Police Department swiftly responded to the reports, but the situation quickly escalated into a life-or-death confrontation.
At around 11 p.m., the police officers arrived at the scene in response to the armed robbery. The suspect, described as a male wearing an orange vest and a beanie hat, was armed with a handgun. Upon locating the suspect, later identified as 53-year-old David Rojas Sr. of San Bernardino, the officers found themselves in a life-threatening situation. Rojas fired at the officers, forcing them to retaliate to protect themselves and innocent bystanders.
Regrettably, despite efforts to subdue the situation, Rojas, who had an extensive violent criminal history, succumbed to his injuries after being taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. His death serves as a reminder of the potential danger hidden within our communities.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities discovered another victim in the vicinity who had suffered a gunshot wound. Tragically, this individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding this second fatality remain unclear, leaving investigators with the challenge of piecing together the events that unfolded that fateful night.
It is important to note that there appears to be no connection between Rojas and the National Orange Show event. The motive behind the alleged armed robbery remains unknown, leaving many questions unanswered for the victims’ families and the community.
The San Bernardino Police Department continues to investigate this incident, seeking justice for the lives lost and closure for those affected by this tragedy. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The San Bernardino Investigations Unit can be reached at 909-384-5615.
In times like these, our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives. We must come together as a community to support one another, to seek justice, and to prevent further senseless acts of violence. Let us remember the lives that were lost and work towards a safer future for all.
