Shocking Incident: Fleeing Driver Strikes L.A. County Deputy, Caught on Video
In a disturbing incident captured on surveillance camera, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy was gravely injured by a fleeing burglary suspect in West Hollywood. The incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Cynthia Street.
Eyewitness Alfonso DeLaBarrera, who was working from his house, recounted what he saw: “I heard the police say stop, and that’s when I came to my window… He came speeding and hit him from the left.”
The sequence of events began when a bystander witnessed the suspect breaking into a car in West Hollywood. Deputies promptly responded and began pursuing the suspect, who was driving a 2022 Dodge Challenger. The chase led them to a dead end.
Surveillance footage reveals the moment the driver of the Dodge Challenger intentionally struck the L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was outside of his patrol unit. The deputy, believing the suspect was trapped, exited the vehicle to apprehend them. However, the suspect had different plans and used their vehicle as a weapon, ramming into the sheriff’s vehicle and striking the deputy.
