In a shocking hit-and-run incident in Fontana, street food vendor Yasmini Camacho was seriously injured. The 40-year-old was crossing the road with his food cart near Arrow Route and Hemlock Avenue when he was violently struck by a car around 9:10 p.m. on August 3.
Camacho, who was selling corn and other food items from his cart at the time, sustained extensive head, leg, and ear injuries. The driver responsible for the accident quickly fled the scene.
Adrian Garcia and his girlfriend, Mikaela Montanez, witnessed the frightening incident and immediately rushed to help. Garcia said he saw a large cloud of smoke and found Camacho lying on the road, bleeding heavily from his head and ear. The pair swiftly called 911 and stayed with Camacho until help arrived.
Camacho is now recovering at home but is still unable to walk due to the severity of his injuries. His family is anxiously awaiting updates from authorities regarding the hit-and-run driver and any progress in the case.
The good Samaritans, Garcia and Montanez, called for the perpetrator to come forward, expressing their distress at the incident and their hope for justice for Camacho.
The incident underscores the need for safer driving practices and greater community responsibility. Authorities are investigating the case and examining local surveillance footage to identify the hit-and-run driver.
