The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently investigating two separate fatal accidents that occurred early Sunday morning in San Francisco.
The first incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m., when a car struck and killed a pedestrian in the southbound lanes on Interstate 280. The pedestrian, unfortunately, died at the scene, according to CHP.
In the second accident, a fatal head-on collision occurred on northbound Highway 101 near Silver Avenue. Authorities received reports of a driver traveling in the wrong direction – southbound in the northbound lanes. This wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Firefighters had to extract the two victims from their vehicle, police reported.
At this stage, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in these tragic events. These separate incidents highlight the importance of vigilance and safety on the road. It also emphasizes the devastating consequences that can result from negligent or reckless driving. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these accidents to come forward.
