Tragic Crash Claims Life of Motorcyclist in Huntington Beach
A fatal two-vehicle crash in Huntington Beach has left a 61-year-old man dead. The incident occurred on Sunday night at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue, involving a blue BMW X3 and a blue Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle.
Authorities responded to the collision call around 7 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Magnolia Street. Tragically, the 61-year-old motorcyclist, identified as a Costa Mesa resident, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the BMW, an 82-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained uninjured and cooperated with investigators, according to a news release.
Initial findings from the investigation indicate that the BMW was traveling westbound on Hamilton Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto Magnolia Street. At the same time, the blue Harley-Davidson was heading eastbound on Hamilton Avenue and entered the intersection as the BMW turned left.
Authorities have stated that impaired vision does not appear to be a factor in the crash, and investigations are ongoing. The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is handling the case.
