Two Arrested in Carmel Man’s Road Rage Death

A road rage incident that resulted in the death of a man from Carmel has led to the arrest and charging of two individuals, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Nicholas Krenke, 32, of Monterey, was booked into Monterey County Jail on a felony hit-and-run charge on July 18. Jenny R. Lesch, 45, of Carmel Valley, surrendered to the Monterey Police Department on July 25 on charges including hit-and-run, assault, and reckless driving.

The fatal incident occurred on May 31 at around 3:35 p.m. on State Route 1, south of State Route 68 in an unincorporated part of Monterey County. CHP reports indicate that 62-year-old James Howard Pack of Carmel lost control of his vehicle due to Lesch’s actions, after which his car was struck by Krenke. Both Lesch and Krenke fled the scene after Pack died from his injuries.

Following a review of the investigation, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against both Lesch and Krenke. CHP urges anyone who witnesses a road rage incident of this kind to dial 911 immediately.
