On Sunday morning, the tranquility of Santa Rosa, California was shattered when several suspects attempted to burglarize cannabis dispensaries in the area. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers responded to a burglary alarm at a dispensary in Northwest Santa Rosa early in the morning. Upon arrival, they discovered that the suspects had rammed a vehicle into the dispensary entrance but were thwarted by a second interior door.
The suspects, who were donned in dark clothes and ski masks, were seen fleeing in a vehicle without license plates. As if this wasn’t enough, a second burglary call came through shortly after the first one. This call was from a cannabis dispensary south of the initial location.
A Santa Rosa PD sergeant arrived in time to see two men leaving the business with stolen merchandise. Upon seeing the sergeant, the suspects fled in separate sedans, one a Kia and the other an Infinity. Both vehicles had significant damage and no license plates.
A high-speed chase ensued, reaching speeds of over 100 MPH on the southbound 101. Other agencies, including the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, Petaluma Police Department, and California Highway Patrol, were called in to assist. The chase ended when spike strips were deployed near Highway 101, bringing the Kia to a stop. The driver fled the scene on foot and despite an extensive search, was not located.
The chase with the Infinity continued to the Marin County line, where it was taken over by the California Highway Patrol. At this time, officers are following up on leads to identify the suspects involved in both burglaries.
