Earlier this month, a 20-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) following a collision involving a Tesla, as reported by the Pacifica Police Department. Officers responded to a reported hit and run around 5:22 p.m. on Aug. 20. On arrival at the scene at 5200 Cabrillo Highway, they found a damaged white 2021 Tesla, which had been struck in a hit and run crash by a white Ford F150 rental truck.
The truck had reportedly fled the scene, with no injuries being reported from the incident. Shortly after, the white F150 was spotted running a stop sign at the intersection of Crespi Drive and Seville Drive.
Officers pulled over the truck and noticed the driver, Mickey Cash of New Jersey, displaying signs of intoxication. Following a DUI investigation, it was determined that Cash had been involved in the hit and run and had been driving under the influence at the time.
Cash was subsequently arrested and charged with a hit and run and DUI under 21 years of age. He was later released to a sobering and detox program via a signed criminal citation. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving, particularly for underage drivers.
