Crashed Hyundai Elantra

Vacaville Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit

In the early hours of Monday morning, a Vacaville man was arrested after leading the Petaluma Police Department on a car pursuit. The incident began when an officer attempted a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai Elantra that was speeding on East D Street and crossing into oncoming traffic.

The driver, 34-year-old William Dye, refused to stop, driving through several red traffic lights in an attempt to evade the police. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies joined in the pursuit.

Dye eventually lost control of his car while trying to turn onto Highway 1, causing his vehicle to veer off the road and hit a dirt embankment. This collision damaged the front tire on the driver’s side. Despite the damage, Dye continued to drive for a short distance before finally pulling over and surrendering.

He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this high-speed chase. This incident underscores the importance of safe driving practices and the potential dangers and legal consequences of reckless driving.
