Young Bicyclist Severely Injured in Fountain Valley Hit-and-Run

A 20-year-old man was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident while riding his bicycle in Fountain Valley on July 4. The victim, Caysen Robinson of Huntington Beach, was cycling in the bicycle lane near Bushard Street and Columbus Court around 10:25 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to Fountain Valley police.

The driver fled the scene, but bystanders came to Robinson’s aid before first responders arrived. Robinson sustained severe injuries, including a broken leg, facial fractures, and even a heart rupture. His mother, Marelise Robinson, told KTLA that it was a miracle he survived given the severity of his injuries. Robinson is currently in stable condition at UC Irvine Medical Center.

Evidence collected at the scene suggests that the driver may have been driving a 2014 to 2019 Toyota Highlander.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of road safety and responsible driving. The consequences of reckless or careless behavior on the road can be devastating, potentially changing lives forever. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information to contact the Police Department’s traffic bureau at 714-593-4481.
